Eventful day...for some!
I had a fairly quiet day today. I did actually have to get up at 5 am to check the pool cover was on tight when a gale force wind woke me. Then the kids and I caught up with friends in town, had lunch at our new and improved golden arches and went to see "Horton hears a Who" with other friends as a School holiday treat. Visited a few more people on the way home and other than having to dodge branches on the road, life was quite sedate.
Got home to find my DH had spent the day slightly differently: cutting up branches off our big fallen houseyard tree, replacing iron off my MIL's roof, refastening our solar heating pipes to our roof and, wait for it, putting out a fire on our property, caused when the power lines rubbed together from the wind and sparked. It only burnt about 20 acres, but required 4 trucks to put it out in 100km winds. Nearly got 1000 rolls of hay, that would have been sad.
So I just got home in time to get him a beer and play supportive wife, rather than having to be the one on the roof in 100km winds with the ladder blowing over! Darn!
Good news though, I got great mail. My Spring quilt swap came from mary@ Needled mom.
Winter from wendy

Autumn, from Amy, the Calico cat.

I was wondering how you were going with all the wind!
Your season quilts look great.
OMG the winds are terrible! We're having them here in Canberra too. My mum in Melbourne said they had a long blackout today and the West Gate Bridge was shut!
I can't believe you've received your spring swap quilt already! It's very nice :)
I've made a start on mine...finally!
I bet you were glad you were in town and not up a ladder....just the thought of it makes me giddy. Lovely swap quilt.
Those winds sound beastly. Our windy season is in the fall when we make headlines with all of the fires.
Glad that you enjoyed the quilt. I am surprised it arrived as quickly as it did. I love the settings where you photograph your quilts. Very nice.
Sounds like you lucked out all the way around! My question is, ONLY 20 acres? That sounds like a whole lot of land!
Sounds like some had a good day while others worked...vbg. At least we didn't get the damage like you did although the dust has to be seen to be believed...groan. The mud that came with the few spots of rain we had didn't help.
Love the Swap quilts - simply stunning. You are spoilt.
Wow! What a fabbo blog header.
It was windy wasn't it!! Love the last pic of the quilt, looks like the storm is brewing in the background. It would look sensational of gift cards!!!
Sounds like DH had a pretty hectic day... Lucky you were there to offer support at the end of the day.. ;)
Love all of the quilts you've received from the swaps and can't wait to see the progress you've made on yours..
Jodie
Lovely lovey swaps. Can't wait to see yours.
I think you chose a good time to be out of the house ;-)
LOL Just another day then!
Lovely lovely quilts.
Oh my - so glad the fire was stopped before substantial damage occurred *yikes* Love your swap quilt . . . oh heck, I love 'em all *s*
Wow, that is some wind Tracey! Lucky you didn't blow away...we'd have been collecting you over here on our side of the pond *VBS*, but happily *VBS*
Great pics, love the new header photo...it's a great one. Love the quilts on the chicken wire. You have a nice collection of small quilts started there. Hope you get some stitching time. Hugs, Finn
