I picked up the Jukebox for my party today, 3500 songs!! I have been having fun finding obscure numbers all afternoon and watching the dodgy old video clips. I Grew up with Casey Kasem's American Top 40. Even here in Australia it was the "have to" listen to show on Sundays. We would all get out of Church and pile into the cars to listen for number 1, even though it may never make it on our own radio stations.
It has actually been digitally remastered and we get old editions on Saturday mornings now! Love to hear the ads for the Osmond t-shirts and Jackson 5 cups!!
Seeing i am about to be 40....and I am more than happy to be ...and enjoying life, I thought we may revisit the Top 40 idea..with a few differences of course.
I would love a comment from you on at least one song that brings a special memory back to you...and preferably why? I have a few, usually old boyfriend related! Roxette's Joyride, Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman and Lee Kernaghan's Goondiwindi moon are fairly high on the list for romantic reasons, at least the last is with my husband!!
So, share the fun, there may be a lucky commenter drawn..and I'll be really excited if we reach a TOP 40!!
Thought you may like a peek at the invites, pity I can't have a cyber birthday!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACEY!!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy your party.
A couple of musical memories...... Mr 3 (now Mr 25) singing along to John Farnham's "You're the Voice" and Miss 3 (now Miss 23) joining in with the Bangles for "Eternal Flame". So cute when they are little!!!
I love the Bee Gees old songs (Words is a favourite) and anything early by Elton John.
You look so sweet in those lace up boots! I have to say Bryan Adams 'Everything I do' - it was 'our song' for our wedding
Happy birthday!!! Love the picture of you- so cute! There are so many songs with lots of memories... Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams was a favorite when I played in a band back in jr. High... and "Beds are burning" with Midnight Oil reminds me of my year as an exchange student, along with "Paradise City by Guns and Roses, and anything with Inxs...
A very Happy Birthday to you Tracey, and many more. What a great idea, love music. I actually have two, In My Life by the Beatles, our wedding song and believe it or not Hubby picked it and Moonlight Serenade Glen Miller always thought that was soooo romantic. Enjoy your day.
Yes, it is a shame that it can't be a cyber party. Oh, the fun!!!!
We actually had Casey Kasem at one of our school dances - when he was just a local DJ on the radio. It was a great evening.
Favorite memories from him would have to be Palisade's Park. It was the epitomy of summer....no school, days at the beach, going to the local amusement parks and just generally doing nothing. Why didn't we appreciate it more???
Happy Birthday tracey, can you hear me singing to you? have a great day.
I don't know if you'll have heard of my favourite song
When a Blind Man Cries by Deep Purple. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
Happy Birthday Tracy! I will turn 40 on the 11th so I feel your pain.
I listened to more "modern" music during the 80's so I have memories of
Depeche Mode-people are people
Duran Duran- Planet Earth
Oingo Boingo- Dead Mans Party
Adam Ant- Strip
I hope you have a fantastic party. At least your picture is cute, I love the gogo boots mine from that same age I have on a green plaid pants suit that I am sure is made from double knit polyester. :O)
Happy Birthday Tracey!
There are two songs that bring back memories. First is Rock the Boat by the Hues Corporation. It was released in the 70's. I love the harmonies in it and it always reminds me of junior high.
The second one is Unforgettable, preferably the version Natalie sings with her father. We played that at our wedding.
Love the invites!
My favourite song is 'Years from now' by Dr Hook, it was the song played at our wedding and it always makes me cry (happy tears of course!). It is also the ONLY song I can get DH to dance to!
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY............
grab that flashy dress (hope it's not to skimpy - you'll freeze) and party the night away.........I was an ABBA baby..........but I love heaps of different songs......
Fairy Girl says Happy Birthday too and her favourite Kelly Clarkson I Don't Hook Up
I have very happy memories about the song Happy Together by the Turtles - before your time. I actually met the band before their concert in our town and went and got them food from the concession stand. I didn't believe they were the Turtles until they dedicated Happy Together to the girl who got dinner for them, just like they said they would. I guess I should have recognized them but I didn't.
Choose just one? Oh dear, that might just be too hard.
Ooo! I have just been thinking really hard and please my I add PaperLace's 'Billy, don't be a hero'?
I forgot to say "hAPPY bIRTHDAY"
:-)
Happy Birthday Tracey :) I turned 40 in Jan, and I can tell you it is not too bad :)
Favorite songs? Too many... I was also an ABBA fan, Cliff Richard, Bread, and a smattering of other 80's pop groups. My kids complain that I know too many songs - they just have to say something and reminds me of a song and I start singing. Drives them nuts :) Introduced them to Pink Floyd the other day, and decided that that must be why I homeschool - sang "Another brick in the wall" too many times ;)
Have a great day and wonderful party!
Happy Birthday Tracey!!!
You gotta do the nutbush! We even did at our wedding!
Happy Birthday Tracey. Great invitation. Have a great weekend.
Carpenter's "Close To You"
A boyfriend & I back in the day would walk down the hall singing this quite loudly. (Right by the Chorus Room, lol.) WHAT were we thinking?!
Happy Birthday Tracey, what is the actual day? Mine's coming tooooo!
Happy Birthday Tracey - I wish you the best year ever. So many songs were great on the radio living in the old country, in the far north, we would get reception from radio stations "down" east in the states. Come on Baby Let's Do the Twist, was very popular at our school dances, in our bobby socks. We thought that we were all so flashy and had fun out twisting each other.
Happy birthday - life is good.
Happy 40th! It seems there's a lot of you hitting that age this year...not me, I had mine a few, well several, okay MORE than six years ago!
Songs: I adore anything by the Beatles. The first song that caused me to buy an album was the Eagles "One of These Nights". Favorite songs in high school were anything Fleetwood Mac, Wings, Foreigner, Queen or Boston played. Oh, and of course Van Halen :)
My hubby and I have a song--it is "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner.
Have a fantastic party!
Happy Birthday. I just had my fortieth the other day.
If I must choose just one piece of music, I think it would have to be OMD, Enola Gaye. Of course I fell in love with the song long before I realised who or rather what Enola Gaye was.
Happy Birthday girlfriend!!!!! Have a wonderful time at your party. :)
A little sumpin sumpin is on it's way from me.
Hugs!!
dawn
Happy Birthday!
Love the boots!
Whenever I hear "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog" (which maybe one of the most ridiculous songs of all time) I remember my first trip to a rollar-skating rink and Sean Sweeney (an older boy all of 10 years old) grabbing my hand to help me around the corner...sigh.
happy Birthday. I will 40 next December too!! I love your pictures.ciao Alessandra
g'day Tracey
Happy 40th to you! I hit that number in May!
Um I remember my favourite song when I was a kid was 'what do you get when you fall in love?' not sure who sung it, but mum said I used to sing it all the time when I was about 4 or 5! but how about the bay city rollers or racey?? bucks fizz... so many!!!
Lissa
Happy Birthday to you. I turned 35 last week and was not happy bout it! Bryan Adams Summer of 69 always brings back memories of being a carefree teenager just hanging out with friends, pre kids, bills, work, housekeeping etc etc
Have a Happy and Wonderful birthday.
I just saw over at ChookyBlue that you turned 40 on the 7th and I turned 40 on the 7th too!
Happy birthday - I hope you are enjoying being 40 as much as I am.

Happy Birthday!
John Farnham brings back memories as does Roxette's Joyride and anything by Bon Jovi. However, the husband and I recently spent an evening watching You Tube videos of the video clips from our youth. The one I loved most was "Star Trekking across the universe"
Remember that one?
Happy 40th Tracey! Hope you have a splendiferous week of celebrations. I used to listen to Casey Kasem religiously too!
